With the completion of environmental protection inspections at lead-acid battery enterprises in Jiangsu province, operating rates at the 484 related enterprises fell below 10%.

SHANGHAI, Aug. 4 (SMM)--With the completion of environmental protection inspections at lead-acid battery enterprises in Jiangsu province, operating rates at the 484 related enterprises fell below 10%. But most of the enterprises still maintaining production are medium to large scale.

According to Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Environmental Protection, among the 36 commissioning lead-acid battery enterprises, 31 are lead-acid battery manufacturers, of which 9 have capacities below 100,000 KVAH/yr, 10 have capacities between 100,000 -500,000 KVAH/yr, 4 have capacities between 500,000-1,000,000 KVAH/yr and 8 have capacities above 1,000,000 KVAH/yr.

Among the remaining 5 enterprises, Xinyi Shenghua Power Supply Company only produces pillar plates, while the other 4 are recycling enterprises, including Nanjing Jinze Metal Material Company, Nanjing Huanwu Resource Regeneration Technology Company, Rugao City Tianpeng Metallurgy Company and Shuyang County Xintian Power Supply Materials Company. The capacities of the former two companies are 50 kt/yr and 18 kt/yr respectively, and capacities of the other two companies are both 60 kt/yr.

Jiangsu province, one of the largest lead-acid battery producers in China, only maintains production at medium to large scale lead-acid battery enterprises, showing that it is making efforts to raise the industrial concentration ratio and encourage scale-efficiency enterprises to expand market shares by making rules and standards, in order to make the entire industry qualified for environmental protection standards.
