TABLE-Lead Market Has 73,000 T Surplus in Jan-May'11-ILZSG

The global lead market was in surplus by 74,000 tonnes in the first five months of the year

LONDON, July 20 -- The global lead market was in surplus by 74,000 tonnes in the first five months of the year, the latest monthly bulletin from the Lisbon-based International Lead and Zinc Study Group (ILZSG) showed on Monday.

Latest figures show global refined lead use was 4.040 million tonnes, up from 3.616 million in the same period last year.

World refined lead output was 4.113 million tonnes, compared
with 3.677 million tonnes a year earlier.

Additional data from ILZSG showed May producer stocks rose to 132,000 tonnes from 129,000 tonnes in April. End- 2010 they were 128,000 tonnes.

Commercial stocks comprise western producers, consumers (reported and estimated), merchants and London Metal Exchange.
