SHANGHAI Oct.26 (CBI China)-- Shandong Province-based Yanggu Xiangguang Copper Company inaugurated its new 200kt p.a. electrolytic copper project in June 2007, and now after three months of testing and calibration, the facility successfully produced its first anode copper on October 1st . According to market sources, refined copper was available on October 18th.
This production milestone would indicate that relevant governmental departments have given tacit consent to the project although it violates government industrial policies concerning development of copper production by enterprises without their own internal raw material sources. This new capacity will only increase China’s dependence upon imports of copper concentrates.
