SHANGHAI May.18 (CBI China)--After a total investment of RMB 8.4 billion, Lanzhou Aluminum Company Ltd. successfully opened their new advanced aluminum production line at the Lianhai plant on 15 May and the expansion project now has a total target capacity of 260kt p.a.

    According to reliable sources, the smelter is putting the new 80kt p.a. production line into production within 2007, so Lanzhou Aluminum's actual annual production in 2007 should be 250kt in 2007. GroWell research shows total new capacity in domestic market should reach 600kt p.a. in Q207 with total new capacity reaching 2 million mt p.a. in the whole year of 2007.

    This production line has been under construction since 2005. When the total planned project is complete, the company will be able to produce 430kt of aluminum annually and will become one of the largest aluminum producers in West China.
