RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb 28, 2011 (Dow Jones Commodities News Select via Comtex) -- Brazil's domestic consumption of processed aluminum products rose 17.7% in January from the same month in 2010, the Brazilian Aluminum Association, or Abal, said Monday.
The sharp rise follows an increase in demand in 2010 to 1.2 million metric tons of products, up 27% from 2009, when demand was hit by the economic crisis, said Abal President Adjarma Azevedo.
The consumption figures include usage of aluminum sheets, foil, extruded products and wires and cables, which together represent 75% of total domestic consumption of aluminum, Abal said.
