Daye Non-ferrous’ New Crude Smelting Project Comes Online, Plans to Build New Refined Smelting

SHANGHAI, Dec. 3 (SMM) – Daye Non-ferrous Metals Company held a commissioning ceremony for its Ausmelt furnace recently.  According to SMM sources, the Ausmelt furnace has an annual crude smelting capacity of 200 kt.  Together with its existing crude smelting capacity, the company now boasts an annual crude smelting capacity of more than 400 kt.  According to one person familiar with the matter, the company, with existing refined smelting capacity of 250 kt/yr, plans to expand its refined smelting capacity in the future.  The first phase of the new refined smelting capacity will be 150 kt/yr, and will come online in 2012, which will help the company’s refined smelting capacity reach 400 kt/yr.
