MOSCOW, Aug. 25 -- Russia's steel output in January-July increased to 38 million metric tons from 31.90 million tons in the same months of 2009, according to a report published Tuesday by the Trade and Industry Ministry.
Iron output during the period increased to 28.1 million tons from 23.56 million tons a year ago. Steel roll output increased to 33.2 million tons from 27.56 million tons in January-July 2009. Steel pipe output increased to 5.04 million tons from 3.46 million tons a year ago.
Without giving output in tons, the ministry said Russia's primary aluminum output in January-July increased by 0.6% on the year while output in July increased by 3.5% compared with June this year.
Refined copper output in January-July increased by 12.4% on the year while output in July increased by 7.1% compared with June this year.
Nickel output increased by 5.4% on the year in January-July while output in July increased by 4.7% compared with June this year.
