SHANGHAI, May 26 (SMM) – Copper Dismantling and Processing Park in Yingtan city, Jiangxi province on May 8th passed the inspection conducted by China's Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Commerce, General Administration of Customs, and General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

In recent years, Guixi city (county-level), as the major force of Yingtan city (prefecture-level) in developing local copper industry, relying on Jiangxi Copper, has spared no efforts in promoting the development of local copper industry. The dismantling and processing park is located in the northeastern area of Guixi city, with total investment of RMB 534 million. Upon completion, the park will have an annual dismantling capacity of RMB 1.8 million mt, with annual production of scrap copper of 450 kt, 100 kt of scrap aluminum, 100 kt of scrap plastic, and 950 kt of scrap steel, to become China’s largest scrap copper recycling base and renewable resources collection and distribution center. At present, a total number of 14 dismantling enterprises have located in the park, with investment expected to be RMB 2.6 billion

SMM believes the development of scrap copper processing park will become an inevitable trend of development of scrap copper recycling in the future, since the mode favors a health development of scrap copper market from the angle of enterprises and governments both. Enterprises in the park will benefit more following China Customs' new regulations on scrap goods, which encouraged the construction of renewable resources processing zones. More and more scrap copper processing enterprises and smelters in the neighboring area of Yingtan city will also benefit from development of copper industry in Yingtan city. The regions equipped with scrap copper processing park will be eager to apply for relevant competency, to attract more investment.

At present, Jiangxi, Taizhou, Guangzhou, and Tianjin are the 4 major scrap copper collection and distribution centers in China, and scrap copper processing park is expected to concentrate in those regions.
