Midas Aluminum Industries Company to Commission 3rd Phase of Expanded Project in 2H

SHANGHAI, May 14 (SMM) -- Large amounts of aluminum semis dedicated for long-distance high-speed rail trains are piling up in the workshop at Jilin Midas Aluminum Industries Company in Liaoyuan city.

Wang Dahai, Deputy Director of Liaoyuan Industry and Information Bureau, said China has accelerated the construction of high-precision aluminum processing bases, and Jilin Midas Aluminum Industries Company's third phase of expanded project with a total investment of RMB 1.06 billion and Jilin Liyuan Aluminum Company's hard aluminum alloy processing and aluminum semis deep processing project with a total investment of RMB 380 million will both come online in 2H 2010. 

SMM believes along with the rapid development of urban rail transport and high-speed railway in China, aluminum semis used for domestic rail transportation developed surprisingly, with Jilin Midas Aluminum Industries Company as one of major aluminum semis producers in China. However, total aluminum semis capacity used for domestic rail transportation has been near domestic total demand, and additional new capacity will come online gradually in the future. In this context, exports of aluminum semis used for rail transportation will play a leading role in China's exports of high-end aluminum semis in the future.
