






BEIJING, Apr. 20 -- China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd, the country's No. 2 telecom operator, in March saw its 3G users increase by 759,000 to 4.82 million and saw its 2G users increase by 873,000 to 147 million, according to statistics released by China Unicom recently.
The number of fixed-line phone users decreased by 274,000 last month to 102 million. The number of broadband users increased by 1.2 million in March to a total of 41.5 million.
China Unicom's operating revenue fell 1.2% year on year to RMB 153.95 billion last year, and its net profit dropped 35.2% year on year to RMB 9.61 billion, according to the company's annual report.
Late last month China Unicom said it was in talks with Canada-based Research in Motion about selling Blackberry handsets in China, according to an earlier report from China Knowledge.
