China's 3G Users Hit 16.06 mln at End-Feb

BEIJING, Mar. 30 -- The number of 3G subscribers in China was 16.06 million at the end of February, increasing by 1.52 million from a month ago, according to a statement published on the website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

China Mobile Ltd, the country's largest telecom operator, saw its TD-SCDMA users increase by 790,000 in February to 6.86 million, with the coverage of TD-SCDMA network reaching 238 cities.

China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd, the country's No. 2 telecom operator, had 4.06 million 3G users at the end of February, 410,000 more than a month ago. The firm had a WCDMA network covering 335 cities.

China Telecom, the nation's largest fixed-line operator, saw its 3G users grow 320,000 to 5.14 million in February, with the CDMA2000 network reaching 342 cities, 2,055 counties and more than 6,000 towns.
