Chongqing Predicts Strong Sales in Clean-Energy Auto Industry

CHONGQING, Mar. 4 -- Chongqing, one of China's four municipalities and one of 13 clean-energy auto model cities in China, plans to produce and sell 242,000 clean-energy autos in 2012, according to information released by the municipal government at a conference held on Mar. 1.

An officer of Chongqing Economics and Information Committee said that the sales value of the 242,000 autos will be around RMB 29.6 billion in total.

Chongqing Changan Automobile Co Ltd<000625><200625>, one of the leading auto manufactures of the city, is expected to reap RMB 16.9 billion in clean-energy vehicle sales revenue in 2012, and the output will hit 120,000 units.

Chongqing Lifan Industry (Group) Co Ltd, another local firm, aims to produce 20,000 clean-energy vehicles for a total of RMB 1.2 billion, while Chongqing Yuan Group's sales goal is 30,000 units and RMB 3 billion. Loncin Holdings Co Ltd's target is RMB 3 billion in sales revenue and 70,000 units sold.

In addition, the city will spend more than RMB 10 million to build one charging station for electrical autos and 50 pilot charging facilities, sources reported.
