Favorable Policies from Central and Local Governments Continue to Stimulate Sales of Automobiles and Electric Motors

SHANGHAI, Mar. 1 -- Recently, the Jilin provincial government convened a meeting in Changchun to discuss automobile replacement, as well as recycling and dismantling of scrapped autos.  Personnel from several local city government commerce departments in Jilin province, as well as representatives from recycling and dismantling companies, participated in the meeting, which was convened to accelerate the process of automobile replacement.

In Shandong province, sales of automobiles and electric motors in rural areas during January reached 73,900 units, with sales revenues of RMB 1.09 billon.  70,700 units received subsidies from the Ministry of Finance, and unit sales have now exceeded 70,000 for three consecutive months.  Subsidies from the Ministry of Finance were RMB 126 million, and this figure has now exceeded RMB 100 million for seven consecutive months. Ever since the Shandong provincial government adopted new policies to encourage sales of automobiles and electric motors in rural areas, demand has been strong.  At the end of January, cumulative sales since the new policies were announced have reached 636,700 units.

Stimulated by the policies of auto replacement and sales of automobiles and electric motors in rural areas, both automobiles and electric motors revived, production and sales of auto and e-motor have grown rapidly in 2009. In January of 2010, production and sales of auto continued to grow rapidly like that in 2009, setting a record high again. From current situation, the government will continue to adopt favorable measures to stimulate development of automobiles and electric motors industries, which will also benefit demand for lead batteries.
