Feb. 26 (Bloomberg) -- A Nippon Mining Holdings Inc. and Mitsui Mining & Smelting Co. venture received approval from the Chilean government to develop the Caserones copper mine.

Mitsui & Co. will join in the project and take a 25 percent stake, the Japanese companies announced in a statement to the Tokyo Stock Exchange today.
