Vale to Restart Operation of Nickel Mine at Voisey's Bay

SHANGHAI, Jan. 26 -- Vale Inco planed to restart nickel production at its mining and milling operations at Voisey's Bay. The project was laid idle due to strikes from August 1st, 2009.

According to an announcement from Vale on January 25th, the decision of production resumption was made after talks between Vale and United Steel Workers reached nowhere.

Earlier this month, Vale once told that the company would restart Sudbury nickel mine in Lake Ontario which was laid idle due to work strikes from summer of 2009. Vale once told that the company will recruit new temporarily workers to replace those who were on strikes.

Vale Inco planned to train workers who didn't participate on strikes to restart production.
