Tibet Yulong Copper's 10kt/yr Refined Copper Production to Begin in August 2008

Shanghai, Mar 28 (CBI China) -- The first phase of Tibet Yulong Copper’s10kt/yr smelting project would be launched in August 2008. Yulong Copper, a subsidiary company of West Mining, is engaged in copper mining and smelting. West Mining holds 58% of shares in Tibet Yulong Copper.

    Tibet Yulong is the largest copper mine in China and the second largest in Asia, with deposits estimated above 6.5 million mt and potential reserves above 10 million mt. Tibet Yulong mine would be developed in three phases: the first phase consisted developing capacity for 30-50kt/yr of refined copper to begin operations in 2008 after three-year construction; the second phase will raise refined copper capacity to 100kt/yr; the third phase will increase capacity to 150 - 200kt/yr.
