November Imports and Exports of China Aluminum and Copper

SHANGHAI Dec. 14 (CBI China)--Imports of unwrought and semi-finished copper products reached a new high of 223.77kt during November, while imports of refined copper were estimated between 110-120kt.  Finally, imports during November of scrap copper rose by 100kt from October levels, and the dramatic rebound of all copper imports was due primarily to the high domestic and foreign price ratio which made importation of copper products profitable.

    Each month from July to October, the monthly average import volume of alumina imported into China has been 400kt or more, so the 100k decrease in imports during November could be a major factor in the tightening of China's domestic market supply.
