LG Energy Solution Speeds Up Sodium-ion Battery Commercialization, Sets 2026 Sample Output Goal

6월 10일, 제너럴 모터스(GM)가 미국 에너지 저장 기업 피크 에너지(Peak Energy)와 전략적 협력 계약을 체결해 계통 연계형 에너지 저장용 나트륨 이온 배터리 기술을 공동 개발한다는 소식이 전해졌다. 양사는 피크의 수동 냉각 에너지 저장 기술과 GM의 배터리 셀 연구개발 노하우를 결합해 세계에서 가장 비용 효율적이고 신뢰할 수 있는 에너지 저장 배터리를 만드는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 이번 협력에 따라 GM은 미시간 소재 배터리 연구소를 나트륨 이온 배터리 셀 전용 연구개발에 활용하며, 피크 에너지는 이 나트륨 이온 셀을 자사의 독자적인 에너지 저장 시스템에 통합할 예정이다.
