PRESS METAL SECURES MULTI-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH NOVELIS FOR SUPPLY OF LOW-CARBON ALUMINIUM

04 March 2025, Kuala Lumpur - Press Metal Aluminium Holdings Berhad (PMETAL 8869), the largest Aluminium smelter in Southeast Asia, has entered into a multi-year contract with Novelis Korea Limited for the supply of its low-carbon certified aluminium, GEM.

Novelis is a global leader in aluminium rolling and recycling, known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the aluminium industry. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, it serves various industries such as automotive, beverage packaging, aerospace, building and construction and industrial applications. Novelis’ vision is to advance aluminium as the material of choice for circular solutions. Under the company’s Vision 3x30 initiative, it aims to push the boundaries on recycled content in its products by increasing its average recycled content to 75%, from today’s 63%; become the lowest-emissions, flat-rolled products aluminium provider at less than three tonnes of CO2e per tonne of flat rolled product (FRP) shipped; and continue first-mover investments to lead the industry to circularity by the end of 2030.

GEM, Press Metal’s low-carbon aluminium series, is produced with a carbon footprint that is about three times lower than the industry average*. It offers a sustainable alternative for industries looking to reduce their environmental impact without compromising performance. GEM exemplifies Press Metal's dedication to innovation and sustainability with a carbon footprint of less than 4.0 metric tons of CO2e emissions per metric ton of aluminium (Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) greenhouse gas emissions).
