On February 27, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the 2024 operational performance of the national PV manufacturing industry. It mentioned that in 2024, the production of key segments in China's PV industry chain continued to grow. Based on information from enterprises listed in the PV industry standards announcement and estimates from industry associations, the national production of PV polysilicon, silicon wafers, batteries, and modules all increased by over 10% YoY. The industry's output value remained at the trillion-yuan scale, while exports of solar cells and modules grew by over 40% and 12%, respectively.

2024 Operational Performance of the National PV Manufacturing Industry

In 2024, the production of key segments in China's PV industry chain continued to grow. Based on information from enterprises listed in the PV industry standards announcement and estimates from industry associations, the national production of PV polysilicon, silicon wafers, batteries, and modules all increased by over 10% YoY. The industry's output value remained at the trillion-yuan scale, while exports of solar cells and modules grew by over 40% and 12%, respectively.

In the polysilicon segment, national production exceeded 1.82 million mt from January to December, up 23.6% YoY.

In the silicon wafer segment, national production reached 753 GW from January to December, up 12.7% YoY, with exports of approximately 60.9 GW.

In the battery segment, national production reached 654 GW from January to December, up 10.6% YoY, with exports of approximately 57.5 GW.

In the module segment, national production reached 588 GW from January to December, up 13.5% YoY, with exports of approximately 238.8 GW.

Throughout the year, major PV products continued to exhibit a "volume increase, price decrease" trend. From January to December, the prices of polysilicon and modules decreased by 39.5% and 29.7% YoY, respectively.
