The key point is that when traders sell bare bright copper locally, their prices mainly reference China's spot copper cathode prices, spot premiums, and the price difference between copper cathode and copper scrap; whereas copper scrap purchases from outside China are typically settled based on the LME 3M price multiplied by a payable indicator. When LME copper is in a backwardation structure, the 3M price is lower than the nearby Cash price, so traders are selling higher-priced local spot material while replenishing with forward-arrival cargoes priced off the relatively lower 3M futures. Traders can lock in procurement costs through pricing or hedging, completing the operation of "selling spot at high prices and replenishing inventory at the 3M price.

9월 2일, 상하이선물거래소(SHFE)는 상하이 위창 공급망 관리 유한공사가 구리, 알루미늄, 아연 선물 지정 창고 용량을 조정하는 것을 승인했다고 발표했다. 상하이시 궁허신루 3501호 저장소에서 해당 회사는 구리 및 알루미늄 선물 저장 자격을 취소하고, 승인된 아연 선물 창고 용량은 2만 톤으로 유지된다. 상하이시 민항구 지촨루 2222호 저장소에서는 아연 선물 저장 자격이 취소되며, 승인 용량은 구리 4만 5천 톤, 알루미늄 5천 톤으로 조정된다.
