SMM, January 3: This week, spot premiums in the Tianjin region declined steadily, down 90 yuan/mt WoW from the weekly average price. As of this Friday, spot premiums for domestic ordinary brands against the 2501 contract were 300–350 yuan/mt, while high-end brands were at 370–400 yuan/mt. The Tianjin market showed a discount of around 20 yuan/mt against the Shanghai market. Zinc prices fluctuated at high levels before pulling back this week. Downstream maintained a bearish sentiment, and with a slight pullback in demand, downstream purchasing enthusiasm decreased. Additionally, Tianjin zinc ingot inventory increased, easing the tight spot supply. Traders lowered premiums to facilitate sales. With zinc ingots gradually arriving, spot premiums are expected to continue declining next week.
