Peru's Copper Production Expected to Remain Flat in 2025 Due to Declining Ore Grades and Project Shortages

게시됨: Dec 23, 2024 11:12
On December 22, Peru's top mining association and industry analysts stated that Peru's copper production in 2025 is expected to remain flat for the third consecutive year due to declining ore grades and a lack of new projects, which have constrained the growth of Peru's copper production. Peru is the world's third-largest copper market. The Peruvian mining association SNMPE forecasts that the country's copper production in 2025 will reach approximately 2.8 million mt, remaining unchanged from the expected production levels in 2023 and 2024, as miners face declining resources and bottlenecks in new project development. Juan Carlos Ortiz, Vice President of the Peruvian Association of Mining Engineers, said that due to the lack of new projects, he expects production in 2025 to remain at the same level as this year.
