MIIT Seeks Public Opinions on Draft Action Plan to Boost High-Quality Development of New Energy Storage Industry

CaiLian Press reported on November 6 that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has publicly solicited opinions on the Action Plan for High-Quality Development of the New Energy Storage Manufacturing Industry (Draft for Comments). The draft proposes to increase support for the exploration of domestic mineral resources such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel, grant mining rights in a scientific and orderly manner, and enhance domestic resource security capabilities. It also guides domestic enterprises to diversify, orderly, and collaboratively deploy overseas resource projects to reduce resource development and transportation costs. Under the premise of risk prevention, enterprises are encouraged to strengthen foreign investment cooperation to enhance overseas mineral development and supply capabilities. Manufacturers are encouraged to manage the full life cycle of products during the research and development stage of new energy storage products. Efforts should be made to strengthen green product design and improve product recyclability and reusability. Provided that product performance requirements are met, manufacturers are supported in using recycled materials.
