On October 21, the Xinjiang Industry and Information Technology Department released a public notice on the capacity replacement plan of the 400,000-ton aluminum smelter of Xinjiang Qiya Aluminum and Electricity Co., Ltd. in accordance with the "Guiding Opinions of the General Office of the State Council on Creating a Favorable Market Environment to Promote the Structural Adjustment, Transformation, and Benefit Enhancement of the Non-ferrous Metals Industry", "Guiding Opinions on Establishing a Favorable Market Environment to Promote the Structural Adjustment, Transformation, and Benefit Enhancement of the Non-ferrous Metals Industry", and the "Notice of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Matters Relating to the Implementation of Capacity Replacement by Electrolytic Aluminum Enterprises through Mergers and Reorganizations". Xinjiang Qiya Aluminum and Electricity Co., Ltd. will commence construction of 320 sets of 500KA pre-baked anode electrolytic cells in October 2024, with a planned operation start in March 2026.
