Canada Launches Tariff Relief Procedure for Chinese Imports Including EVs, Steel, Aluminum

The Canadian government announced on October 18 the launch of a procedure that allows Canadian enterprises to apply for tariff relief on electric vehicles, steel and aluminum products and other goods imported from China. The additional tariffs imposed by the Canadian government on the "key manufacturing" products imported from China can also be applied for relief. According to the news released by the Ministry of Finance of Canada, the provision of relevant relief policies takes into account the potential challenges faced by Canadian industries in timely adjusting supply chains. The Canadian government said that the relief of additional tariffs should apply to "compelling" cases.
