Japan's latest quarterly aluminum premium quote stood at USD 175 per tonne, marking a 1.7% increase from the previous quarter. According to several participants in the pricing negotiations, this quotation reflects the higher premium levels in the European market. This represents the third consecutive quarterly increase, compared to USD 172 per tonne in the previous quarter. However, the quote remains below the USD 180-185 range initially proposed by global producers. As a major aluminum importer, Japan's premium quotation typically serves as the benchmark for the price of primary aluminum paid each quarter, based on the spot price of the London Metal Exchange.
