Domestic Aluminum Ingot Inventories Stall Below 800,000-Tonne Benchmark, Signaling Slowdown in De-stocking Process

Although a turning point for inventory reduction of domestic aluminum ingots emerged in mid-August, the inventory reduction process has seemingly encountered difficulties since late August, and the benchmark of 800,000 tonnes has yet to be surpassed. According to SMM statistics, as of September 2, 2024, the total social inventory of electrolytic aluminum ingots was 810,000 tonnes, with 684,000 tonnes of circulatable electrolytic aluminum inventory domestically. Compared to last Thursday, there was a slight decrease of 1,000 tonnes in inventory, but it was still 291,000 tonnes higher year-on-year.
