Zinc Ingot Inventories Decline Across Seven Regions, Led by Shanghai Drop Amid Production Cuts

[SMM Data] On August 29, SMM reported that as of Thursday (August 29), the total inventory of zinc ingots in seven regions tracked by SMM was 127,100 tonnes, a decrease of 3,900 tonnes from August 22 and 1,600 tonnes from August 26, indicating a decrease in domestic inventory. The inventory in Shanghai region recorded a notable decline, primarily due to the sustained production cuts at domestic smelters, resulting in fewer arrivals at warehouses during the week and a continuous decline in warehouse inventory. Meanwhile, the inventories in Guangdong and Tianjin regions increased, as there was still no significant improvement in arrivals at warehouses in these two regions during the week. However, the high zinc prices made downstream buyers hesitant, leading to rigid demand-driven purchases, and under the condition of weak supply and demand, the inventory increased slightly. Additionally, the social inventory in Zhejiang region increased due to the arrival of imported zinc ingots. Overall, the inventory in the original three regions decreased by 2,400 tonnes, while the inventory in seven regions decreased by 1,600 tonnes.
