Shanghai Unveils Ambitious Plan to Modernize Transportation Fleet, Infrastructure by 2027

The Shanghai Municipal Government has issued the "Special Work Plan for Large-scale Facilities and Equipment Renewal in the Transportation Sector of Shanghai", aiming to achieve the following goals by the end of 2027: comprehensively realize the new energy transformation of buses and taxies in Shanghai, with an annual average of over 9% of the total vehicles being renewed; renew a total of 6,200 buses and 11,000 taxies; basically eliminate non-road mobile equipment and non-road mobile vehicles with National Emission Standard II and below used in airports and ports, as well as those with National Emission Standard IV and below, and renew or add 1,600 non-road mobile equipment in total; comprehensively eliminate diesel commercial trucks with National Emission Standard III, and basically eliminate those with National Emission Standard IV, renewing or adding 50,000 trucks in total; renew or add around 200 aircraft and over 120 ships; and implement around 80 maintenance and renovation projects for transportation infrastructure in total.
