Xinjiang Autonomous Region Party Committee Secretary Visits Northern Desert Photovoltaic Base, Plans 20GW Capacity

The Secretary of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region Party Committee, Ma Xingrui, visited the site of the northern desert photovoltaic base in Midong District, Urumqi, and listened to the progress report on the construction, and coordinated the solution of difficulties facing the project. The planned total installed capacity of the photovoltaic base is 20GW, with a planned total investment of 100 billion yuan. Currently, seven enterprises including National Energy Group and China Green Development have successively settled and started construction of related photovoltaic power generation projects. It is expected that the photovoltaic base will be completed with 8GW by 2025. In addition, the new energy transmission planning report preparation project for the Gurbantunggut Desert Base project has also started bidding. This project is invested by Changji Gurbantunggut Desert Base New Energy Development Co., Ltd., and will construct 3.4GW of photovoltaic, 1.6GW of wind power, and 125MW/500MWh of new energy storage projects.
