Copper inventories in the domestic bonded zone increased 2,000 mt from July 28 to 61,100 mt as of Friday August 4, according to the latest SMM survey. Copper inventories in the Shanghai bonded zone added 1,800 mt to 51,200 mt, and inventories in the Guangdong bonded zone advanced 200 mt to 9,900 mt due to growing shipments arrivals of imported copper.
Exported cargoes by domestic copper smelters have begun to arrive in bonded warehouses this week. Meanwhile, demand was weak amid the poor SHFE/LME copper price ratio, limiting shipments from bonded warehouses.
Next week, inventories in the domestic bonded area will continue to accumulate slightly in view of continued arriving shipments of exported cargoes by Chinese copper smelters and the lack of growth in shipments from bonded zone inventories.
