SHANGHAI, August 2 (SMM) –
Recently, due to the impact of typhoon Doksuri, extremely heavy rainfall occurred in North China, the lower reaches of the Yellow River and the northern part of the Huai River Basin, causing floods and geological disasters. For the all-out response to flood control and disaster relief, the China Meteorological Administration adjusted the level I emergency response of major meteorological disasters (heavy rain) to the level II emergency response of flood control and disaster relief meteorological services at 8:30 on August 2. The Meteorological Administrations of Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, and other provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities initiated or adjusted the corresponding level of emergency response according to the actual research and judgment. All units should strictly follow the workflow of meteorological disaster emergency response and do a good job in all aspects of the work. In addition, all units must strengthen duty arrangements, and continuously carry out the monitoring, forecasting, and early warning services for heavy rainfall and severe convective weather, while being highly alert to urban waterlogging and secondary disasters such as small and medium-sized river floods, mountain floods, and geological disasters that may be caused by heavy rainfall. In case of an important situation, local Meteorological Administrations shall promptly report to China Meteorological Administration.
