Silicon Metal Prices May Stabilise Or Inch Lower Next Week As Loss-Making Producers Are Reluctant To Sell While Downstream Buyers Reject Price Hikes

SHANGHAI, Jun 2 (SMM) – Silicon metal inventory remained high, mainly from large producers in north China and high-grade silicon metal. Above-standard #553 and #551# silicon metal are mainly supplied by large producers in north China. As most small producers in north China have cut output due to losses and the operating rates in south China are low, the supply of 4 and 5-series silicon metal in the spot market was scarce. Based on the prices of off-grade silicon metal powder, the current prices of silicon metal remain high. Silicon metal prices may stabilise or inch lower next week amid stalemate between sellers and buyers.
