Costs of Chinese Aluminium Smelters Slump

SHANGHAI, Apr 10 (SMM) – In terms of input costs, prebaked anode benchmark prices plummeted 520 yuan/mt MoM in April, while alumina prices inched lower last week. Thermal power prices in Henan fell to varying degrees, reducing the average power cost of aluminum smelters across the country by 0.003 yuan/kwh from March to 0.439 yuan/kwh. The real-time full costs of smelters dropped 276 yuan/mt week-on-week to 16,936 yuan/mt as of last Friday, while SMM A00 aluminium prices stood at 18,670 yuan/mt, leaving their profits at 1,734 yuan/mt, expanding 276 yuan/mt from a week earlier.
