Recently, Lion Micro said in an interaction with investors that heavily doped silicon wafers belong to Lion Micro's characteristic products, and some 12-inch heavily doped silicon wafers with special specifications have achieved peer leadership. At present, heavily doped silicon wafers have achieved large-scale shipments of positive wafers. At the same time, Lion Micro also mastered the production technology of light-doped silicon wafers, 12-inch light-mixed test wafers to achieve batch shipment, 12-inch light-doped wafers are also in the customer sample verification stage.
It is understood that Lion is currently building a 12-inch wafer project with a monthly production capacity of 150000 wafers, with a monthly production capacity of 100000 wafers for heavily doped wafers and 50, 000 wafers for light wafers.
In response to investor concerns about overcapacity, Lion Weibo said that the monthly demand for 12-inch wafers in China in 2020 is about 1.05 million. According to SEMI, global semiconductor manufacturers are expected to build 29 high-energy wafer factories by 2022, of which 16 are in mainland China and Taiwan, and the vast majority of them will be 12-inch wafers, so demand for 12-inch wafers is abundant.
At the same time, more than 95% of the 12-inch silicon wafers in mainland China are imported, and there will be a great increase in domestic demand from the perspective of supply security of the integrated circuit industry chain. At present, only a few companies, including Lion Micro, have really achieved technological breakthroughs and batch supply of 12-inch silicon wafers in China, and most of them are still test wafers, and it will take time for most manufacturers to form the planned production capacity. Therefore, the market space is larger.
In terms of equipment localization, Lionwei is very supportive of domestic equipment manufacturers. At present, the single crystal furnace equipment used in the single crystal drawing link of the wafer production line has all been localized; in the epitaxial link, the 6-inch wafer is basically replaced by domestic production, and the 8-inch and 12-inch wafer polishing machines and epitaxial cleaning equipment mainly rely on imports. Lionwei's power semiconductor and radio frequency production line currently has a domestic replacement rate of more than 70%, and on the whole, it has little impact on the company's product cost.
At present, with the gradual popularity of 5G communication, there are more and more new electronic and intelligent application scenarios, the Internet of things, artificial intelligence and other new application scenarios emerge in endlessly, and there are more and more new requirements for power semiconductors. At the same time, the delivery time of the current equipment purchase of semiconductor power devices has been extended. The delivery time of the equipment, coupled with the plant construction period, customer verification cycle, the process of new capacity may not be very smooth. For this situation, Lion Micro predicts that the prospect of semiconductor power devices will be promising in the next 2-3 years.
