SHANGHAI, Jul 14 (SMM) – Due to insufficient power supply, Yunnan Province restarted power curtailment on July 12. A total of 43 industrial-grade silicon furnaces in Dehong Prefecture were opened as of July 13. Due to the daily increase in power rationing loads, companies in Dehong Prefecture that have not yet opened furnaces have no plans for power supply for the time being, and make every effort to ensure the use of power for the opened enterprises production. SMM learned that Yunnan Dehong had three industrial-grade silicon furnaces shut down today due to insufficient supply of power and raw materials.
It has been less than one month since the power curtailment ended in mid-June and the silicon plant resumed production. The current power curtailment mainly affected the further increase in the operating load of Yunnan's industrial-grade silicon. Baoshan and Nujiang, the other two major production areas in Yunnan Province, have no power curtailment and production cut for the time being.
In addition, as the industrial-grade silicon production area in western Yunnan is close to the China-Myanmar border, the impact of the pandemic on transportation may cause some silicon plants in Dehong, Longchuan and other places to reduce or suspend production due to lack of raw materials.
