[GE wins order for 87 MW wind turbines in Morocco] GE Renewable Energy said it had won supply contracts from EDF's EDF RE and Mitsui's Mitsui&Co to provide equipment for Morocco's 87 MW Taza onshore wind farm.

SMM News: GE Renewable Energy said it has won a supply contract from EDF's EDF RE and Mitsui's Mitsui&Co to provide equipment for Morocco's 87 MW Taza onshore wind farm.

Under the agreement, GE will provide 27 3.2-85 onshore wind turbines for the project to be installed near Taza in northern Morocco. The project is part of Morocco's energy strategy and aims to achieve 52 per cent of renewable energy electricity by 2030.

The Taza project, which is expected to begin operation in early 2022, will provide electricity to 350000 households and save up to 200000 tons of carbon dioxide.

Manar al-Moneef, head of onshore wind energy at GE Renewable Energy, said: "Morocco has great potential in wind energy and has been an early promoter in the process of renewable energy integration, making great progress in renewable energy. We are pleased to work with EDF and Mitsui&Co.,Ltd and have consolidated our position in the country. "
