SHANGHAI, Jun 12 (SMM) – Social inventories of silicon metal in China continued to edge lower this week, amid little arrivals at ports and in Kunming and small amount of shipments out of warehouses.
SMM data showed that the stocks of silicon metal across Huangpu port, Kunming city and Tianjin port stood at 45,000 mt as of June 12, down 2,000 mt from a week ago.
Some silicon plants in south-west China have reopened but it still requires time for them to generate large amount of cargoes and move to social warehouses. Pessimistic prospects for prices kept most buyers from stockpiling, and this kept the overall silicon stocks from falling significantly.
