SHANGHAI, Jun 29 (SMM) – Citic Dameng has commissioned a lithium manganese oxide project with an annual capacity of 3,000 mt in Chongzuo city in south-west China on Wednesday June 27.
The energy density would reach 120 mAh/g and compacted density would be above 3.0 g/cm³, SMM learned.
The Guangxi-based company commissioned this project as the first stage of a grander lithium manganese oxide project with an annual capacity of 10,000 mt. It is about to kick off the construction of the second stage in the near term, SMM learned.
As Citic Dameng commissioned the first stage of the project, its overall annual capacity includes 2,000 mt of nickel cobalt lithium manganese oxide (NCM), 1,000 mt of lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) and 8,000 mt of lithium manganese oxide.
In 2017, China’s capacity of lithium manganese oxide totalled 52,000 mt with output at about 38,000 mt. Given other new capacities planned in Shandong, Jiangxi and Hunan provinces, the overall capacity in China is likely to amount to 72,000 mt by the end of 2018. Overall output of lithium manganese oxide is expected to exceed 50,000 mt in 2018, SMM estimates.
