Geely inaugurates global-oriented high-temperature test base in Turpan

On July 14, Geely officially inaugurated the Geely Global Test Base No. 4 Turpan High Temperature Test Base, marking a significant addition to Geely's global testing facilities.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 14, Geely officially inaugurated the "Geely Global Test Base No. 4 Turpan High Temperature Test Base," marking a significant addition to Geely's global testing facilities. The new establishment is the first high-temperature testing base set up by a Chinese automotive brand with global demands in mind, further enhancing Geely's comprehensive product validation network worldwide.

The Turpan High Temperature Test Base is equipped with multiple advanced facilities, offering extensive testing conditions and rigorous environments. It supports various energy forms, including oil-fuel, pure electric, hybrid, and methanol-powered vehicles. Spanning an area of 1.3 million square meters, the base features a 5-kilometer dynamic testing road and a 6-kilometer special testing road. It has developed 13 high-temperature testing scenarios, adhering to global validation standards, such as urban square roads, serpentine square roads, highways, and NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) special pavements. These scenarios enable comprehensive assessment of vehicle performance under extreme high-temperature conditions, including steering, braking, air conditioning heat management, body stability, thermal aging, and sealing performance.

Additionally, the base houses supercharging facilities that meet Chinese, European, and American standards, facilitating the preliminary foundational testing of new energy vehicles.

Unlike the industry norm, which predominantly focuses on hardware testing under extreme temperatures, Geely conducts comprehensive validation tests covering both hardware and software. With over 1,600 functional test cases, the testing cycle is longer, the distance is greater, the intensity is higher, and the scenarios are more extensive and meticulously considered.

For instance, acknowledging the varied usage conditions across global markets, Geely has incorporated tests simulating the desert sand erosion conditions typical of the Middle East to verify door sealing and tire grip. Furthermore, unique dust tests have been introduced to assess overall vehicle sealing. Addressing the industry's gap in high-temperature extreme testing for intelligent driving systems, Geely has established stringent testing protocols, adding challenging conditions to ensure the stability and reliability of both hardware and software under extreme high temperatures, safeguarding intelligent travel for users.

Geely now possesses the capabilities for vehicle, system, and component testing and validation. With over 100,000 test cases covering more than 90% of real-world driving scenarios, Geely meets the testing requirements for global models. Before market release, every vehicle undergoes various testing scenarios, including high-temperature, high-cold, and high-altitude tests, covering all aspects of the vehicle such as intelligent driving, cabin, chassis, new energy, electronics, and interior and exterior components. Leveraging robust simulation capabilities and platform-based construction, the relevant conditions surpass 800,000 simulation test kilometers and 1.5 million real-road test kilometers.

Geely's testing network now includes the Hangzhou Bay Headquarters Test Base, Shangrao Leading Innovation Test Base, Heihe High Cold Test Base, and the Turpan High Temperature Test Base, laying a solid foundation for Geely's global product validation system.

At the inauguration ceremony, Li Chuanhai, Vice President of Geely Auto Group, stated, "Under the guidance of the 'Intelligent Geely 2025' strategy, Geely's research and development have continuously accelerated the global deployment and upgrading of testing capabilities and resources. We plan to establish 16 global testing bases domestically and internationally to achieve Geely's global strategic deployment. The Turpan Testing Base, as one of the core bases of Geely's global testing network, will facilitate the development of Geely's global models. In the future, more Geely brands models will undergo extensive testing here."
