According to the official WeChat account of the Press Office of the People's Government of Changshu City, Jiangsu Province, on December 1st, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Umicore fuel cell catalyst project was held at the Changshu New Material Industry Park in Jiangsu Province.
It is reported that Umicore Fuel Cell Catalyst (Changshu) Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary established by Umicore Group, a Belgian company, in Changshu. For nearly 30 years, Umicore has been committed to the development of fuel cell catalysts, providing platinum and iridium catalysts for different proton exchange membrane fuel cells. The application scenarios cover various industries such as automobiles, ships, aerospace, energy storage, and hydrogen production through water electrolysis.
With the popularization of hydrogen fuel cells, the demand for products such as platinum carbon and platinum cobalt alloy catalysts is growing rapidly, and the market prospects are broad. The fuel cell catalyst project in Changshu, with a planned total investment of 590 million yuan, is expected to be completed and put into production by 2025.
