SHANGHAI, Feb 8 (SMM) – According to SMM survey statistics, China’s output of antimony ingots (including antimony ingots, crude antimony, cathode antimony, etc.) was 6,304 mt in January 2023, a month-on-month decrease of 15.83%. SMM attributes the decline to some workers being infected with Covid in early January, factory shutdowns in late January for the Chinese New Year, as well as raw material shortfalls.
The supply of both domestic and overseas antimony ore has shown no signs of picking up significantly in the foreseeable future, which could support further rise in antimony prices.
SMM expects antimony ingot production to drop further in February.
