Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On October 12 local time, BYD's Cambodian subsidiary hosted a joint launch event in Phnom Penh for the BYD SEAL 5 Super Hybrid and the BYD M9 Super Hybrid, marking a further expansion of the brand's new energy vehicle lineup in the country. At the event, BYD not only unveiled the two models but also handed over the keys to their first owners, achieving its hallmark "launch-and-deliver" experience.

The SEAL 5 Super Hybrid comes equipped with BYD's signature Super Hybrid system, delivering seamless integration between electric and gasoline power. The M9 Super Hybrid, a premium multi-purpose vehicle blending technology and luxury, offers extended range when fully fueled and charged. Both models were originally scheduled for delivery later in October, but the launch event marked their on-time rollout to customers.

Since entering the Cambodian market, BYD has steadily expanded its operations. The company currently operates seven showrooms and one after-sales center in Phnom Penh, with additional outlets under development—including flagship stores at Aeon Mall 2 and Hun Sen Boulevard, as well as 2S stores in Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Battambang. By the end of this year, BYD expects to increase its Cambodian footprint to 13 showrooms and six service centers, enhancing convenience and service quality for local customers.

BYD's sales momentum in Cambodia has been equally strong. As of September 30, 2025, the company had delivered 2,990 vehicles in the country—a year-on-year spike of 497 percent.

According to Ye Chenghui, General Manager of BYD Cambodia, the company's vision goes beyond selling cars—it aims to drive a transformation in local mobility. He revealed that BYD's passenger vehicle plant in Sihanoukville is nearing completion and will soon begin production. Once operational, BYD plans to gradually localize production and assembly of its key models, ushering in what Ye described as a "new era of locally made new energy vehicles" for Cambodian consumers.
