Recently, U.S. economic data has shown positive signals. U.S. retail sales in July increased by 1% MoM, far exceeding the expected 0.3%, with the previous value down 0.2%. The strong growth in retail sales indicates that consumer spending remains robust. Initial jobless claims for the week ending August 10 were 227,000, lower than the expected 235,000, with the previous value at 234,000. These positive factors have alleviated market concerns about a U.S. economic recession and boosted investor risk appetite, bringing a certain degree of optimism to the metals market, including the tin market. In the context of a positive economic outlook, investors may increase their allocation to risk assets such as industrial metals, thereby supporting tin prices. However, turning to the solder industry, we observe a completely different market dynamic. In July, domestic sample enterprises' tin solder production decreased MoM, and the operating rate also declined. This reflects the weak demand in the solder market due to factors such as the shrinking order volume in the photovoltaic industry. This insufficient demand situation exerts downward pressure on tin prices. Especially in the current off-season for consumption, the stable order volume of solder enterprises is not enough to significantly push up tin prices. Looking ahead, although demand in the solder industry is expected to remain weak, adjustments in inventory strategies and the positive performance of the U.S. economy may provide some support for tin prices. However, investors still need to closely monitor changes in the international economic environment and demand dynamics in the solder industry to more accurately judge the trend of tin prices. In summary, under the combined influence of these factors, tin prices may exhibit a relatively strong oscillation trend.
