In the cleaner production transformation project of the key industries listed in the Plan, it is clearly proposed to implement the transformation of technology and equipment such as vertical reduction magnesium smelting in the magnesium smelting industry, and the cleaner production transformation of about 4000 non-ferrous metal furnaces will be completed by 2025, which puts forward clear requirements for the technical transformation of the magnesium smelting industry.

Carbon emission intensity continues to decline. Carbon dioxide emissions per unit of industrial value added have been reduced by 18%, and phased results have been achieved in controlling the total amount of carbon emissions in key industries such as iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, and building materials.
The emission intensity of pollutants decreased significantly. The ability to control the source of harmful substances has been continuously strengthened, the level of cleaner production has been significantly improved, and the emission intensity of major pollutants in key industries has been reduced by 10%.
Energy efficiency has improved steadily. The energy consumption per unit added value of industries above scale has been reduced by 13.5%, and the unit consumption of key industrial products such as crude steel, cement and ethylene has reached the world's advanced level.
The level of resource utilization has been significantly improved. The output rate of resources in key industries continued to rise, the comprehensive utilization rate of bulk industrial solid waste reached 57%, and the recovery utilization of major renewable resources reached 480 million tons. Water consumption per unit of industrial value added was reduced by 16%.
The green manufacturing system is becoming more and more perfect. The green manufacturing system in key industries and key regions has been basically established, the industrial green and low-carbon standard system has been improved, 10,000 kinds of green products have been promoted, and the output value of green environmental protection industry has reached 11 trillion yuan. Layout and construction of a number of standard and technical public service platforms.
The goal requirement of the "Plan" is a great challenge for the magnesium industry, especially for the magnesium smelting industry. Energy consumption mode, process technology and industrial model all need to make important changes.
Different from the horizontal reduction furnace commonly used in magnesium smelting and reduction at present, the vertical reduction furnace for magnesium smelting uses the downward principle of gravity to realize the fast charging and slag reduction of the reduction furnace. The vertical reduction furnace can overcome the shortcomings of manual operation, high labor intensity and poor working environment in front of the furnace, and truly realize the mechanization of charging, crystallizer and slag discharge. The rise of hot air flow in the furnace is beneficial to the reduction reaction. The bricks of the supporting tank are cancelled in the furnace, and the fire is permeated around the reduction tank, so the heat transfer condition is better, and it is more energy-saving compared with the horizontal tank reduction furnace. Generally speaking, the vertical reduction furnace has the characteristics of high degree of mechanization, small land occupation, less employment, low labor intensity, low investment, low energy consumption and low ferrosilicon consumption. It can enable enterprises to achieve better economic benefits and environmental performance with lower investment and operating costs. At present, many magnesium smelters in China, such as Yunhai Metal, Fugu Xintian magnesium Alloy, Xinjiang Tengxiang magnesium products and Ningxia Kaitai magnesium Industry, have used vertical reduction furnaces, which have good operation effect, mature experience, and are constantly improving and upgrading. Among them, Yunhai Metal is the first enterprise to adopt vertical pot energy-saving magnesium smelting process, which sets a benchmark for the industry and leads the direction. It can be said that vertical cans are the focus of the transformation and upgrading of the magnesium industry at present and in the future, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments have encouraged to promote this transformation many times.
However, restricted by the problems of financing and investment, the transformation process of the magnesium industry is not fast in recent years. at present, the output of vertical pot magnesium smelting only accounts for more than 10% of the total output, and other silicothermic technological innovation is also difficult. In the next few years, the transformation of the magnesium smelting industry is arduous and under great pressure, and the transformation of the smelting process alone requires billions of yuan of investment. If the requirements of energy, environmental protection, carbon reduction, automation and intelligence are taken into account, the upgrading and reengineering of the industry requires a huge amount of investment. When the domestic and foreign markets discuss the price of magnesium, whether to use magnesium and how much magnesium to use, we need to pay more attention to how to realize the green development path of magnesium smelting industry, and it is urgent to formulate a green low-carbon roadmap and action plan. We need the joint efforts of the industrial chain in the face of common issues and challenges, the guidance of the relevant departments of the main producing areas and the guidance of the backbone enterprises of the industry, promote the upgrading of the industry with the reverse force mechanism, and enter a period of transition and labor pains of adjustment in an all-round way. gradually meet the requirements of industrial green development and high-quality development under the national goal of "double carbon". To ensure that the magnesium industry chain is stable and far-reaching while ensuring its survival, meeting the basic needs of the market and the requirements of sustainable development.
The Plan also puts forward a variety of safeguard measures to support the green development of industry, and looks forward to some implementation to support the technological transformation of the magnesium smelting industry. Among them, encourage local finance to increase support for the development of green and low-carbon industries and technological research and development, innovate support methods, and guide more social resources to invest in industrial green development projects; expand the scope of preferential catalogue of enterprise income tax such as environmental protection, energy saving and water saving, carry out green financial products and tools innovation, improve green financial incentive mechanism, and promote green insurance in an orderly manner; We will strengthen industry-finance cooperation and issue special policies on industry-finance cooperation to promote the green development of industry.
