SMM9 March 25: it is reported that the European Commission will impose temporary anti-dumping duties of up to 48% on aluminum extrusions from China. The commission launched an investigation in February 2020. The European Commission has now found that the sales prices of Chinese aluminum extrusions in the EU are so low that they are considered to be dumping and unfair competition against domestic producers.
Euroaluminium said the provisional anti-dumping duties were expected to begin on October 15 and the investigation would be completed in April 2021.
Earlier, in February 2020, the European Commission said it had launched an investigation into whether China had dumped aluminum profiles. The complaint filed in January by (European Aluminium), an industry group representing seven producers, is being processed by the EU, according to a notice in the EU's official newspaper. The Executive Committee said that the evidence provided in the complaint showed that the quantity and price of imported products under investigation had a negative impact. Europe's local aluminum industry welcomed the move and called for anti-dumping duties.
