Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Leapmotor announced on November 27 that it has reached its 2025 full-year sales target of 500,000 vehicles six weeks ahead of schedule. Founder and CEO Zhu Jiangming used the occasion to unveil an even more ambitious goal: doubling annual sales to 1 million units in 2026.

Speaking to media after the debut of the Lafa5 model, Mr. Zhu outlined the pressures the company faces, the basis for his confidence, and how Leapmotor's product roadmap is structured to support that target.

Zhu acknowledged that the company is navigating short-term headwinds. Cold weather in November and December, combined with the expiration of a five-year state subsidy program, has effectively raised car-purchasing costs by around 10,000 yuan for many consumers—putting temporary pressure on fourth-quarter demand.

Even so, he argued that fundamental market demand has not shifted. The impact of policy changes, he said, will be short-lived, and both total auto sales and new-energy vehicle volumes in China could edge higher in 2026. He expects NEV penetration to rise by another five to ten percentage points next year, calling it a meaningful window of opportunity for the industry.

Zhu said Leapmotor's confidence stems from the strength of its widening product matrix. The company's "3C" lineup—C11, C10 and C16—has remained strong throughout the year, with sales significantly above 2024 levels. The B-series (B10, B01) and the entry-level T03 have also delivered steady results. Together, he said, these existing nameplates are on track to contribute close to 600,000 units this year, providing a reliable base for future growth.

Leapmotor's newest launches are also gaining traction. The D19, the first model in the D-series introduced in October, generated strong pre-orders despite a limited initial rollout. The A-series made its public debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show and was well received for its design and feature upgrades. The newly launched Lafa5, Zhu noted, is showing the strongest conversion from pre-sales to formal orders of any Leapmotor model to date.

Breaking down the 1-million-unit goal, Zhu said that existing models such as the B-series, C-series and the T03 will continue to deliver incremental volume next year. Newer product lines—including the A- and D-series—are expected to contribute 300,000 to 400,000 units. Overseas markets, where Leapmotor has been expanding aggressively, will also play a role in meeting the 2026 target.

"With the A, B, C and D series all in place, and four new models hitting the market in 2026, reaching 1 million units of sales is a goal we can look forward to," Zhu said.
