SMM News, October 18: According to data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) of the United States, global semiconductor sales amounted to US$53.12 billion in August, marking a year-on-year increase of 20.6%. This figure represents the highest monthly sales record for August. Driven by the demand related to generative AI (Artificial Intelligence), global semiconductor sales have surpassed the previous year's levels for ten consecutive months. Regionally, sales in the Americas reached US$16.56 billion, up 43.9% year-on-year, contributing significantly to the overall growth. Sales in Europe stood at US$4.26 billion, down 9.0% from the previous year, while Japan recorded US$4 billion, a 2.0% increase year-on-year. China witnessed a 19.2% year-on-year growth, reaching US$15.48 billion. The Asia-Pacific region excluding Japan and China saw a 17.1% increase year-on-year, reaching US$12.82 billion.
