According to the General Administration of Customs, in April, China's exports of unwrought manganese, shredded scrap, and powder stood at 31,229 mt, down 8.31% MoM but up 52% YoY. Exports of wrought manganese and manganese products were 8,311 mt, up 22.36% MoM and 159% YoY. Exports of EMM and manganese products were 39,500 mt, up 66.10% MoM.
According to SMM, EMM prices ran firm in April. Domestic suppliers held back cargoes, while downstream buyers rejected high-priced EMM and showed no active purchase sentiment, leaving weak demand for EMM. However, there was a price spread between domestic and overseas EMM, with higher price acceptance overseas. Additionally, the peak season of March and April saw a large number of overseas inquiries, making it easier for traders to turn to export. Therefore, overseas purchases of EMM increased, leading to a MoM growth in exports.
